ROAD CLOSURES

L’Étape Draft by Tour de France replicates a stage of the Tour de France and all its attributes, including fully closed roads. The road closures offer the riders a unique experience, guarantee their safety and provide the local community with a unique opportunity to develop road-side animations, activities and cycling-related art installations that can be featured in the 26-minute documentary that will be aired nationally on SBS after the event.

WHAT IS L'ÉTAPE DRAFT BY TOUR DE FRANCE?

L’Étape Draft is the only official Tour de France event in France. It is open to riders of all abilities and provides cyclist with the closest experience to riding in the Tour de France an amateur can have.

At the front of the main peloton, there is an official Elite Wave sanctioned by Draft Cycling. The best cyclists in the country will come to compete in L’Étape Draft.

It is anticipated up to 16,000 people are expected to take part in the event (these numbers will be subject to the Public Health Orders in effect at the time of the event). Based on previous editions of L’Étape Draft, visitors generally spend two nights in the region.

WHAT OPPORTUNITIES WILL THE EVENT CREATE?

L’Étape Draft by Tour de France will play an important role in generating a boost for the local economy.

We will promote the area via an important TVC campaign run on SBS throughout 2022. Additionally, commentators will promote the region during the telecast of the Tour de France.

There are also exhibition opportunities at a discounted rate for local businesses at the Event Village. If you would like to receive more information about this opportunity, please contact us at info@draft.com.

WILL THE EVENT IMPACT EMERGENCY SERVICES?

No, it won’t. L’Étape Australia work in collaboration with the RFS, Fire & Rescue NSW, NSW Ambulance and NSW Police to ensure emergency services can attend all 000 calls. The Event Command Centre on event day will be in liaison with 000 to ensure all emergencies are attended. Should an emergency vehicle be delayed by the event, L’Étape Australia will send their own paramedics onsite until NSW Ambulance arrive and take-over.

HOW WILL ANIMAL EMERGENCIES BE HANDLED?

L’Étape Australia by Tour de France will liaise with local vets to ensure local residents can be assisted in case there is an emergency with their animals. Vets will be provided with information and a contact number to call to request access to properties impacted by the event.
